 Peacock has been the center of human attraction from the very beginning.  Peacocks have been given high status in many religious myths.  In Hinduism, eating peacock is considered a great sin.  Peacock feathers in the crown of Lord Krishna show the importance of this bird.  Mahakavi Kalidas has given peacock higher status than the national bird in the epic 'Meghdoot'.  The peasants and kings are also very fond of peacocks.  The coins that used to run in the kingdom of the famous Emperor Chandragupta Maurya were made peacock on one side.  The throne where the Mughal emperor Shah Jahan used to sit, was structured like a peacock.  Between the two peacocks was the king's throne, and the peacocks spread their wings behind.  Takht-e-Taus was named after the diamond-leaf plaque.  In Arabic the peacock is called 'Taus'.

The length of the male peacock is about 3 centimeters and the height is about 5 centimeters.  The female peacock is about 90 centimeters in length.  Male and female peacocks are very easy to identify.  The male has a large jaggery on the head and a small jaggery on the female head.  On the small tail of the male peacock there is a bunch of long and ornamental wings.  The number of these peacock feathers is about 1 k.  The female bird does not have these decorative wings.  In the rainy season when peacocks dance in full fun, some of their wings are broken.  Anyway once a year all the feathers of the peacock fall in the month of August.  Before the summer season, these wings come out again.  The peacock is mainly found in blue, but it is also white, green, and purple.  Its age ranges from 3 to 6 years.  Peppermint does not make a nest, it lays eggs in a safe place on the ground.
